Approximations, extrapolations, and ballpark estimates have become an invaluable tool in scientific, engineering, marketing, and economic endeavors.  A wide variety of mathematical techniques have been applied in each field including statistics and probabilistic analysis, calculus and field theory, and even fractal geometries.  Every specialty of engineering and scientific pursuit has its own preferred mathematical or procedural assumptive technique.  However, a simple, unified approach is incorporated into the Brown Number Theory.

Brown Number Theory (BNT) provides a uniform nomenclature and rational basis of comparison for divergent mathematical techniques utilized to correlate data.  It is a simple, powerful tool for today's complicated problems.  The general theory as first formulated by Ernst Brown is certainly as important as Galileo's description of the cause of tides and his general beam theory.
